Civility Localized is a minority and woman-owned Community Engagement Consulting Firm with headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Our consultants specialize in multiple disciplines, including Community Outreach Planning, Community Development, Equitable Transportation, and Local Government Policy.

Civility Localized works with governments to enhance Community Engagement capacity. Our firm specializes in increasing public awareness of, and participation in special government projects.

Christine Edwards, MPA 

Christine Edwards, is the founder of Civility Localized. She is a former local government professional turned civic innovator passionate about community, outreach, economic development, affordable housing, and bridging the digital divide.

As the former Community Relations Coordinator for Mecklenburg County, she coordinated events that offered direct interaction with local communities. Her decade in government led her to the path of entrepreneurship with a focus on civic innovation.

Edwards earned her Masters in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her concentration: Urban Management and Policy. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In both academic and professional realms, her focus has been to foster civically engaged communities through collaboration, partnership, and digital communication. Edwards has experience leading teams through full-scale community engagement plans from inception and planning, to facilitation and data analysis.

Christine’s deep relationships allow her to establish working capital with underserved communities often represented by those who identify as African American, Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous, immigrant, non-English speaking, single-parent households, older adults, those who are differently-abled, and people experiencing homelessness. 

For its commitment to excellence, her company, Civility Localized, was awarded the 2020 Crowns of Enterprise Minority Business Enterprise of the Year by Mecklenburg County Government and the City of Charlotte.
