Community Outreach Ambassadors 

Established in 2018, Civility Localized (formerly known as Amplify Consulting) is a minority-owned and woman-owned, For-Profit company located in Charlotte, NC, specializing in community outreach planning and place-based outreach initiatives. We work with governments to increase awareness of special projects by hosting public meetings and workshops. We believe in helping communities grow with dignity. We believe in an Engagement First approach. We are looking to hire several seasonal community outreach ambassadors 

The Role

Civility Localized is seeking community outreach ambassadors to join our team of strategy, research, marketing and community engagement professionals serving local government and nonprofit changemakers in Charlotte and across the US in key industries: transportation planning, local government budgets, arts and culture, health equity, racial equity, community planning and design.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting surveys via paper or tablet at indoor and outdoor outreach events 

  • In person and virtual focus group facilitation and/or note-taking with provided discussion protocol

  • Support the team in delivering community engagement excellence across the firm through uplifting and representing the Civility Localized brand in person, in photos and in video recaps and marketing materials.

  • In-person tabling events 

  • Some workshop event support (check in table, set up and breakdown, table facilitations) in-person and virtual 

Required Qualifications & Competencies

The ideal candidate would have the following capabilities and qualities:

  • Must be 18 years older or older

  • Some experience working or volunteering in a non-profit, charity, government or community outreach-based role

  • A commitment to the mission of strengthening social impact and equity for the greater Charlotte community and across the Carolinas

  • Excellent communication skills with particularly strong verbal relational skills 

  • Comfort with approaching people in public to share a survey or share information about a project

  • Comfort with diverse groups of people from various backgrounds 

  • Must have access to reliable transportation 

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors during summer months, sometimes for extended periods of time

  • Both values and understands how to implement equity, inclusion, and tactics to reach and engage diverse audiences

  • Understands the importance of reducing barriers for participation for all 

  • Proficiency with project management tools (i.e. Gmail, Google Calendar, Zoom, and Asana)

Compensation and Work Expectations

The position requires approximately 3 to 4 in person or virtual events per month and pays $50 per event beginning March 1, 2025 and ending October 31, 2025 There is potential for additional work opportunities as the company grows. Events such as town-halls and community feedback sessions may take place during week days, evenings and weekends. All event materials and on-site training will be provided to ambassadors. Ambassadors will be reimbursed for mileage for events that require travel outside of Charlotte.

Work Location

Civility Localized headquarters are located at 436 East 36th Street Charlotte NC 28205. This Community Engagement Consultant position requires flexibility to work both remotely and in-person at various locations. While the primary work location will be in Charlotte, some events and engagements will necessitate travel throughout Mecklenburg County, other areas of North Carolina and South Carolina.
