Mecklenburg County Transportation System Improvement Study
Background
The Mecklenburg Transportation System (MTS) provides coordinated non-emergency medical and general public transportation to eligible residents in Mecklenburg County, NC. Transportation is provided to various locations seven days a week by bus, drivers, and vendors. Monthly CATS bus passes, certified drivers and contracts with transportation vendors provide wheelchair-equipped vehicles to assist with specialized transportation needs.
Challenges
Adequately gauging what was working and where areas for opportunity existed within this organization was a challenge. Getting employees to participate in a frank and honest way can prove difficult in small government departments. Allowing for anonymity in our survey responses encouraged transparency and honest feedback.
What We Did
Civility Localized conducted an Operational and Organizational assessment for the MTS. We facilitated two employee Focus Groups and a survey to learn about scheduling challenges and needs. Created recommendations to better serve the population that needs transportation.
